Arezzo is 48 miles (75km) south-east of Florence and 140 miles (225km) north of Rome on the A1 motorway. Trains head north from there to Florence and south to Orvieto and Rome: for timetables and prices seewww.trenitalia.com.
The nearest airport is Florence Amerigo Vespucci (www.aeroporto.firenze.it), but you will find a greater choice of flights and lower prices if you fly to Pisa (www.pisa-airport.com), just under two hours away by car. (For a directory of airlines flying from the UK to Florence and Pisa, see www.skyscanner.net.)
The centre is a restricted traffic area; if you're driving in, head around the walls and leave the car in the large free car park in Via Pietri, on the north side of town; from here, a series of escalators whisk you straight up to the Duomo.
